OPTIMA USA: A look behind the scenes

The growing number of first-rate references speaks for itself: The pharmaceutical division of Optima Machinery Corporation has become an expert for the fastidious requirements of the US pharma market. Orders range from spare parts, to servicing and maintenance, to complete lines. The branch of Optima in the United States was founded in 1985 in Green Bay (Wisconsin) and will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year.
In correlation with Optima Group’s three pillars, Optima’s American sales teams are structured under the pharma, consumer, and nonwovens divisions. Four sales representatives are responsible for the pharmaceutical market, and each with their specific distribution territory: East Coast, West Coast, Midwest, and key account responsibilities. Simultaneously, distribution activities are organized by ‘sterile’ and ‘non-sterile’ products (Kugler). This approach has proven favorable for processing inquiries and orders, encompassing everything from spare and format parts, service and maintenance, to machine modifications, upgrades and complete customized lines. Consequently, all tasks can be efficiently implemented in close cooperation with the engineering and manufacturing departments of our headquarters in Germany, and the twelve service technicians available out of the Green Bay location.
Integration into the SAP network of the holding company, in place since 2004, is an important factor contributing to a smooth organizational flow. Direct data access significantly simplifies and shortens the processing span when responding to international inquiries and orders. With the VPN network, a direct link to the central server in Germany is now in place. Presently, the facility in Green Bay, with a ground surface of 1,800m², is undergoing a sustainability-oriented modification under the aspects of energy efficiency. In the wake of this measure, the distribution department will also be re-organized.
Thomas Seifert, business manager of the branch, places great emphasis on societal commitment. Optima USA maintains memberships in organizations such as PMMI, ISPE, PDA, and the local Chamber of Commerce, but also in the German-American Chamber of Commerce based in Chicago. With an international ‘Business Scholarship’, Optima supports students at the regional St. Norbert College. Thomas Seifert is also a member of a CEO Roundtable and the Ashwaubenon Business Association. |
