Impressive output and sophisticated technology

A compact high-speed, high-performance filling and closing line with labeling station: KUGLER’s Contiline, in co-operation with a customer’s facility in Ireland, has been developed to the requirements of the increase in demand for anti-mastitis treatments in farmed animals.

Much feared by dairy farmers, mastitis is a bacterial infection of the cow’s udder. The infection must be fought consistently at its roots. According to Wikipedia, mastitis-related infections damages results in annual losses of approx. € 255 m in Germany alone, caused by treatment costs, milk and animal losses. Some Internet sources even state much higher figures.

Growth of the human global population will undoubtedly lead to an increased demand for milk and milk products and thus, by implication, mastitis therapies. As a consequence, Univet in Ireland, a long established manufacturer of veterinary pharmaceuticals and contract manufacturer of veterinary products, focused on high performance for the new production concept of its filling and labeling line for filling anti-mastitis antibiotics. The KUGLER Contiline was chosen against competition thanks to its superior output (300 / minute) and a universally convincing ergonomic line concept. [...]

Capacity for more challenges
The line, achieving a maximum output of 18,000 syringes/h, comes with an impressively small footprint and reaches a filling precision of +/- 1%. The customer operates the machine under clean room 5 conditions. Presently, the line only fills and labels one syringe size, but has capacities for filling plastic syringes with diameters of up to 30 mm. All components in contact with the product are autoclavable, supporting easy product changeovers and complying with even the latest cGMP guidelines for veterinary pharmaceuticals.
